Kathleen & Steve will be open both weekends during Marin Open Studios, May 5-6 and May 12-13, 2018 from 11-6. Hope to see you then. This piece is Steve’s recent acrylic painting, “Sundown on the Sunnyside”, 11″ x 20″.
This new large oil on canvas began as a larger version from the same vantage point as Kathleen’s recent commission. Kathleen has worked from along Ridgecrest many times, as it’s always awe inspiring, always different. This view is from north of Rock Springs, looking north. Mt Vision & Mt. Wittenberg are part of the Inverness Ridge, through the Olema Valley fog, on the left.
Yosemite Renaissance is a juried show about all things Yosemite or Sierra Nevada. Steve has had work accepted into this exhibit several times, winning honorable mention & 1st prize a few years back. For Yosemite Renaissance 33, 300 artists submitted 820 pieces to be juried and of these, 62 artists were selected. Steve was one of 4 artists to have 2 pieces selected. Kathleen & Steve both spend a few mornings a week up at Bon Tempe Lake. It’s always different. We’ve seen otters, green herons, hooded mergansers, pileated woodpeckers & newts on parade. This painting, just signed by Kathleen, is a 20 x 36″ oil on canvas. We’ll now clear a space & hang it for our open studio this weekend, December 2 & 3 from 11-5pm. See you there!
Steve has been working on several paintings like this one. While hiking along the Tuolumne in October, the river was still & reflective. This painting, 7.5 x 15″ is a strange juxtaposition between foreground pine trunks & reflected pine tops, with a little autumn color thrown in.
This small Lipinski oil painting is another from a favorite spot, the unique & prominent, Ring Mountain. “Mt. Tamalpais from Ring Mountain, oil on canvas, 7″ x 12.5”, will be part of Kathleen & Steve’s open studio, December 2 & 3, from 11 – 5pm.
