Kathleen’s third large commission for the lobby of 222 South Main, Salt Lake City, Utah.

Lipinski, “The Green River, Utah”, oil on canvas, 50 x 80″, (in progress).

This 50 x 80″ painting in progress was commissioned by the new owners of the building where Kathleen was commissioned to paint from Zion National Park in 2009 (see images below). The elevator hallway which housed the slot canyon painting was remodeled and now required a horizontal format painting. Last June, Kathleen and Steve took a 6 day raft trip down the Green River through Canyonlands National Park, merging with the Colorado on its’ way south to the remnants of Lake Powell. This view is from one of the camps along the way. The painting is currently about half-way done. Kathleen hopes to host a one day public viewing before it ships to Utah in early March.

Steve has three paintings in the Bolinas Museum’s “Hardly Strictly Mini” exhibit.

“These pieces began as variations on the graphs new to our daily lives. I stuck to the format, but not the science in these. I invented curves, without a thought to flattening them. I used bright colors without regard to whether they might represent good, or bad, just as long as they worked with each other. The last one above, I tilted 90 degrees, and liked it even better.”

The exhibit at the Bolinas Museum lasts through the month of December.

Kathleen’s Bolinas Museum auction donation sells way over asking! No time to celebrate- on to the MVFAF this weekend!
