In January, Kathleen & Steve & their son, Adrian, hiked one way, the entire new “680” trail. This links the Sleepy Hollow/Terra Linda Divide with Loma Alta. The old ranch road access was cut off by the “Metallica Wall”, but the Marin County Open Space built a new trail which avoids the Metallica property.
Winter color is very different, last spring’s grasses are bleached silver and the brilliant green new shoots are just beginning to show. But, the winter light is low & dramatic most of the short day, so as we turned the corner on the White Hill side of the mountain, with the sun about to dip below the Bolinas Ridge, we both took many photos. Both of us have been working from these since then. Kathleen has finished her 36″ x 66″ oil on canvas, photo to follow shortly. Steve has just finished his 3rd piece which is shown here.
